LLS volunteers help carry out this mission in so many ways: supporting patients, family members, healthcare professionals, and our community, driving policy advocacy, participating in our campaigns, and helping LLS build much needed capacity.


    Thepurpose of this role is to assist the Office of Volunteer Engagement(OVE)staff in administering the Volunteers In Action (VIA) platformand providing customer service to the LLS chapter staff.

    Additional Position Information

    The Office of Volunteer Engagement (OVE) works to ensure that the volunteer experience across LLS is a meaningful one and that volunteers help to build capacity across the organization.The Volunteer will report to the Director Volunteer Engagement.Location- National Office, 3 International Drive, Suite 200 Rye Brook, NY 10573. Some work may be done remotely with either in person or phone check-ins on a weekly basis.Time Commitment 12 to 15 hours a week with a six month minimum commitment. Shift Times Flexible schedule based on mutually agreed upon times. Work must be completed during business hours 9am – 5pm. TrainingLLS will provide the volunteer with an orientation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society including an overview of the volunteer program and introduction to Volunteers In Action platform.


    Position Tasks

    • The tasks performed in this role will help to ensure that staff volunteer needs are being fulfilled and that LLS Staffentering the VIA system are moving through the process in a timeline mannerthrough answering emails in the OVE mailbox. Tasks will include but are not limited to:
    • Work with the volunteer manager to ensure that chapter questionsare being answered
    • Regular monitoring of the OVE mailboxfor incoming questions regarding the Volunteers in Action Platform
    • Check on status of background checks for volunteer roles requiring one and provide updates to appropriate chapter staff
    • Monitor the VIA platform at least 2-3 times a week to ensure that volunteer applicants are moving through the various intake steps
    • Contact LLS staff when necessary to help guide them through steps they must complete on the platform


    Volunteer should possess the following skills/qualifications:

    • Excellent Customer Service Skills
    • An interest in the field of volunteer engagement and/or human resources
    • Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite
    • Attention to detail
