    Overview

    The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) mission is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since 1949, LLS has been on the forefront of blood cancer advances such as chemotherapies and stem cell transplantation leading the way to the targeted therapies and immunotherapies that are saving thousands of lives today.

    Additional Position Information

    Multiple Marketing & Communications Interns are needed each semester. Interns will work a minimum of 10 hours per week (fall and spring) and 20 hours (summer). Internships are available during the spring, summer and fall. Students must own a laptop and be able to arrange transportation to and from LLS office, events, etc. Some events may require the student to work nights or weekends when available. Internships are not paid. Interns who seek college credit for their experience should work with LLS to meet criteria.

    Responsibilities

    The Internship- interns will work closely with the chapter staff to develop a work plan that will benefit the campaign, and best utilize their knowledge and skills. Interns will help manage, but are not limited to the following tasks: 

    • Help develop and maintain a marketing communications and social media calendar 
    • Collaborate with staff to develop newsletters, web content, email blasts, social media messaging and collateral  
    • Write and distribute press releases
    • Build media distribution list 
    • Manage chapter website content updates 
    • Produce monthly chapter enewsletter

    Qualifications

    Qualifications, Hours and Compensation- Interns should be college students studying communications, marketing, public relations, non-profit management or a related field. Social Work and Human Services students will be accepted if they have an interest or knowledge in fundraising and marketing communications. Successful candidates will have the following qualities and skills: 

    • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
    • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills 
    • Excellent Interpersonal & Writing Skills 
    • Results-oriented 
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
    • Tech savvy- i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Publisher, or Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is a plus 
    • Professional demeanor and appearance 
    • Confidentiality with all patient/donor/volunteer information
